The route goes mostly along the Tar Trail which is one of the nine official Finnish tourist routes following the ancient water, tourist and transportation route along the River Oulujoki from Kajaani to the city of Oulu. A significant part of the journey is cycled in close proximity to Lake Oulujärvi which is especially present in Mananmansalo island which landscape is dominated by beautiful pine heaths and long sandy beaches. Several days will be cycled in the area of Rokua Geopark which is Finland’s only and the northernmost Geopark of the UNESCO network. In Rokua it is also possible to visit a National Park. Accommodation on this tour varies from small hotels to camping cabins each of them offering a good night’s sleep and delicious dining. |
